Headlining Tech Fashion Tour 5.0 in Mumbai

We took Lumen Couture to Bollywood with Tech Fashion Tour 5.0.

This year we were invited to participate in Tech Fashion Tour in Mumbai. This was the fifth year of the event, hosted by Exhibit magazine. The event showcased local designers, and every year invites an international designer who is a leader in combining tech and fashion.

With its debut 5 years ago, Tech Fashion Tour aimed to create a one-of-its-kind amalgamation between two massive yet different worldly elements – Technology and Fashion. The first season of the show was a tremendous success and the event continued to grow into a glamorous and well-anticipated event.

This was our first time in India, and we loved being at the heart of Bollywood and the wonderful food, people, and hospitality we experienced.

The event featured celebrity appearances for performance and walking the runway – including Prakriti & Sukriti Kakar, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Ravi Dubey, and Warina Husaain. Other designers at the event included Little Shilpa and local designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed.

We showcased garments from our ready-to-wear line, as well as a few runway pieces that are available exclusively for rental.

About the Author: Chelsea Klukas is an award-winning interdisciplinary technology artist and design leader. She has founded two companies exploring the intersection of fashion and technology (Lumen Couture and MakeFashion) and was recently granted her Doctorate of Fine Arts (h.c.) in 2019. Her Lumen Couture projector hat, a hat that includes real-time projection mapping and visual inputs to display video on a dress, has gained international attention as the first of its kind. She is an advocate for diversity and women in tech.

Lumen Couture is fashion that illuminates for unexpected elegance and drama. The designs are informed by the international fashiontech shows hosted by MakeFashion, an organization that introduces youth to STEM through hands-on fashion technology workshops.
